Downhill Racer Poster

US 1-Sheet linen-backed cinema poster for the sporting-drama "Downhill Racer" (1969) starring Robert Redford, the strking poster design by American artist Stephen Frankfurt.

A really clever poster design that juxtaposes the huge image of the kissing couple with the tiny image of the skier set against a white snowscape. As Emily King states in her book "Movie Poster" (2003), "The loneliness of the skier is emphasized by the outsize romance on the horizon"

Poster originally folded but now linen-backed. Minor restoration to foldline war & to several points on the lower rim. Very slight "rippling" which could be rectified with flattening (poster previously kept rolled). (O)
