Irreversible Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the dramatic & shocking film by Gaspar Noe, "Irreversible" (2002) starring Monica Bellucci & Vincent Cassel & with poster design by Laurent Lufroy.

The subject matter of the film (a brutal rape & violent revenge) & the graphic depictions thereof, made this film notorious. The quirky construct of showing events in reverse order somehow heightens the effect. The film was highly controversial on release but is regarded as a powerful & serious film nonetheless, winning several awards at film festivals (the review by Roger Ebert is worth a read: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/irreversible-2003). The BBFC passed the film un-cut with an "18" certificate after vigorous scrutiny but the film appears to have had no general release in the UK, being shown in a very limited number of arthouse cinemas only. This & the tiny print run probably explains the poster being produced in a single-sided format only. Although foreign posters for "Irreversible" are relatively common, the Quad is rare.

Poster unfolded, single-sided, with pin-holes to corners, minor surface paper loss lower left rim & a few light creases/surface marks. Posters displays to very good effect & is a difficult title to track-down
