Llanidloes Flint Victorian Calendar Poster

These are NOT cinema posters but two Victorian Calendar posters (15"x 20" & 14"x 18 1/2" approx) being interesting pieces of commercial advertising with lots of social history, these both dating from 1894.

It appears as if local companies & tradesmen would commission these calendar posters approaching Christmas. It is likely that the artwork designs were in template form & the commissioning business would have their details added. Presumably these calendars were then given to favoured clients. The "Little Mother" poster was issued on behalf of "Evan Williams, Wholesale & Retail Ironmonger" of Llanidloes & the "Returning From Church" poster was by "William Jones, Family Grocer, Tea, Flour & Provision Dealer" of Flint.

Both posters with some rim damage including some paper loss & with several conservation tape repairs to splits/tears to the reverse etc but both display well & are fascinating early examples of commercial poster advertising with Llanidloes/Flint Welsh interest.
