Marlene Dietrich Poster

A rare original Marlene Dietrich Picturegoer magazine poster (19 1/2"x 29 1/2") c' 1936-37. This type of poster would have been displayed in & around newsagents at the time. The poster has been restored & linen-backed.

The German actress Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992) was the most famous actress of the 1930's-40's. Known for her languid beauty, Dietrich was the style icon of her time. She often wore three-piece suits & was one of the first women to regularly wear trousers. The adrogynous look she popularised also enhanced the mystique of her sexuality. Von Sternbergs "Blue Angel" (1930) brought her to international prominence & Hollywood films followed. Dietrich frequently performed for American troops in WWII, her rendition of "Lili Marlene" becoming hugely popular. Very little 1930’s film memorabilia comes onto the market in the UK & this happens to feature one of the biggest most iconic stars of the time. Although many images of Dietrich are around, we have not seen this particular image anywhere else.

Poster linen-backed & restored. Restoration has stabilised "foxing" & removed several surface stains. The images have NOT been photo-shopped so you see an authentic representation of the poster. The poster will be sent rolled in a tube.

NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
