Some Like It Hot Poster

US 1-Sheet linen-backed movie poster for the Billy Wilder comedy "Some Like It Hot" (1959).

Two posters with exactly the same design were printed for the first release. The earlier version, as here, has the "59" date number in the bottom right corner whereas the later print run has a "60" date number (the text on the bottom rim is also slightly different for the later print). The earlier "59" dated version, as offered here, is the more sought after of the two prints.

Starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon & Tony Curtis this cross-dressing farce regularly appears in the top of polls for "Best Comedy Film". The film was both a commercial hit & a critical hit awrded with six Oscar nominations. Although Marilyn Monroe was difficult on set, it is generally considered that she delivered her best ever performance in this production. The colourful film poster uses a photographic shot of the three leads & reflects the fun-filled nature of the film. One of the Hollywood classics!

Poster once folded but now backed with a few light surface scuff marks, minor corner damage & with airbrush restoration to some foldline wear. The poster displays to very good effect.
