The Challenge

Original Vic Fair concept artwork (20"x 30" overall) for the Japanese set martial arts film "The Challenge" (1982).

This is an early prototype which Fair refined further (see second artwork image attached for reference) prior to the concept being handed to fellow artist Brian Bysouth to illustrate. Vic Fair was frequently used as an "ideas man" to provide designs for the likes of Bysouth, Fratini & Putzu to paint. Interesting to see here the genesis of this particular Quad design.

The artwork consists of various colour washes plus ink & pen work. Everything here is artwork with no photographic elements at all. The artwork is on several layers of thin paper affixed to polyboard. Small area missing to top left corner.
