The Great Battle

A large original painted artwork (31 1/2"x 42") for the little-known Russian film "The Great Battle" (1973) by the British artist Vic Fair (please note the Quad poster for comparison). Most poster artists created their artworks smaller than the posters they were designing for but Fair was unusual, sometimes designing full-size as here.

This is a mammoth piece of work consisting of sheets of thin paper laid to two backing boards, the paper carrying coloured washes & intricate pen & ink work. The script & insignia are on cut-out overlays. The two artboards have come adrift but could be easily glued back together. The artist has signed this work.
