Saint Joan (1957) Poster

US 1-Sheet linen-backed cinema poster for the film about Joan of Arc, "Saint Joan" (1957) with a superb Saul Bass poster design & illustration.

Starring Jean Seberg in the title role (in her first ever film) & with the likes of Richard Widmark, Richard Todd, John Gielgud, Harry Andrews, Victor Maddern & directed by Otto Preminger, this was a serious heavyweight production. Befittingly the poster campain was designed by one of the premier 20thC cinema poster artists, Saul Bass, who delivers a suitably stylish & thoughful composition. An excellent example of the artist's work.

Poster originally folded but now linen-backed. The only restoration has been a small infill to the upper left side & several small faint touch-ins to foldline wear. The linen has been trimmed close to the outside of the border of the poster so the overhang is severall mm only. The poster displays to superb effect.
