Ice Cold In Alex Poster

UK Quad cinema poster (30"x 40") for the WWII classic "Ice Cold in Alex" (1958).

The film contains the famous "worth waiting for" bar scene where the intrepid sun-ravaged escapees savour ice cold Carlsberg's. The scene was shot using real beer & was only completed to director J Lee Thompson's satisfaction after fourteen takes! The poster is regarded as a classic WWII Quad & interestingly eschews cast/credits information though is not thought to be an advance poster.

The painted artwork poster design works wonderfully in evoking the sparse and unforgiving landscape that must be conquered by John Mills & his compatriots whilst also accentuating the enormity of their task. Nice to see the film title differently coloured, the "Ice Cold" text suitably in blue & "In Alex" in yellow denoting sand & heat.

This poster is in superb un-restored condition with a single conservation tape repair to a cossfold & minute nick to upper right corner. For those who prefer their posters linen-backed we also have another similar Quad already linen-backed: https://www.moviepostermem.com/Ice-Cold-In-Alex-Poster/63078
